 A CHRISTMAS UPDATE
Dear St. John's Parishioner,

A Blessed Christmas celebration and season to you!

The time of waiting and expectation is soon to be met by the day fast approaching.  When Christmas day comes and passes, we are still a people who by the virtue of our faith, are called upon  to wait with expectation.  We wait with patience for our own maturing and growth in the virtues of faith, hope and love.  These do not come easily.  Like the season of Winter which seems to lock us into cold and snow, we may feel distant and disconnected from the movement of God's Spirit in nurturing our faith, hope and love.  Yet like the promise of Spring, the Christ child unlocks our deepest fears.  God has acted in Jesus to spark hope in the darkness.  In turn, we are blessed to act with faith, hope and love in God's time and in God's way.

Peace,

Pastor John

Scripture of the Day

"In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration and was taken when Quirinius was governor of Syria.  All went to their own towns to be registered.  Joseph also went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was descended from the house and family of David.  He went to be registered with Mary, to whom he was married and who was expecting a child.  Wile they were there, the time came for her to deliver the child.  And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn."
