Tour de Revs Update
The
Reverends completed their, "Three guys, one bike, 100 days,
13,000 miles and 65 cities" on August 20th with the final stop
in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They rode into the Convention
Center, spoke to the 2,000 people gathered for the Church Wide
Assembly and received a standing ovation. The total
funds raised for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal has not yet been
announced.
At St.
John's we have also completed our support and sponsorship of
the Tour de Revs. We successfully had volunteers to
sponsor 72 of the 100 days; 56 of the 65 stops. Over 120
adults and children from St. John's participated in this
effort to bring attention to and raise money for the plight of
the world's hungry. As of October 1st St. John's
has collected $3,762.46 in contributions with matching funds
from the Erie County Thrivent Chapter #30716 the total raised
for the ELCA World Hunger Appeal - Tour deRevs will be over
$5,000.
