Acolytes & Crucifers
 


 

MISSION: An opportunity for the youth of St. John’s to participate as active worship assistants at our worship services.

HOW IS THIS DONE?
  Acolytes
who are in the 4th Grade in Sunday Church School volunteer to serve and are responsible for lighting and extinguishing the Altar Candles and the Baptismal Candle before and after worship.  They also collect the used Communion cups during worship.  Acolytes serve at both the 8:30 a.m.and 11:00 a.m. worship services, at 9:00 a.m. during the  summer, for festival and special services during the year and are scheduled on a rotating basis.
Crucifers
who are enrolled in Sunday Church School volunteer to serve when they are the appropriate age and height and are responsible for carrying the processional cross and leading the Choir, Pastor and Assisting Ministers as they enter and exit the church during worship. Crucifers serve when the Choir sings, usually at the 11:00 a.m. service, for festival and special services and are scheduled on a rotating basis.

TRAINING:
Training is provided in September or as new youth volunteer or are recruited.
