"Let the children come unto me..."
ELCA World Hunger synodical appeal

The Upper New York Synod Hunger Justice team has designated this spring's ELCA World Hunger synodical appeal for ministries focused on the care and feeding of orphans and vulnerable children. Each congregation is challenged to bring a gift of $500 or more to our UNYS Spring Assembly, May 26-27.

As Jesus welcomed and embraced children, despite the Disciples' disapproval, so we, too, are called to respond to the plight of those whose families have been fractured, leaving children vulnerable to malnutrition and disease. Through our support of ELCA ministries of feeding, nutrition, and health care, we are demonstrating Jesus's compassion for "the least of these," those alone and with no means to care for themselves.

We who serve on the UNYS Hunger Justice Team count on your faithful generosity and thank you for your advocacy of ELCA World Hunger in your congregation. Working together, we live in hope "that all the world may be fed."

Grace and peace,
Your Hunger Justice Team

YOUR TALENTS ARE NEEDED

God gave us all special talents. As a thank you, it's up to you to use those talents in His church. There are many opportunities here at St. John's, and it doesn't have to be complicated or overly time consuming. It could be helping with altar guild, folding bulletins, ushering, reading lessons, church maintenance, Burrito Project, etc. What are your talents? Make 2025 the year you use your talents to God's glory! Contact the church office to sign up!

PRAYER LABYRINTH

The Prayer Labyrinth Walk is held on the second Wednesday of every month, year-round, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  The Prayer Labyrinth is in the Parish Hall. Each hour, there are 15 minute segments, with 3 slots available during each 15-minute segment, so that up to 3 people can walk the labyrinth at a time. People should sign up on the sheet on the counter in the lobby ahead of time, to accommodate everyone who would like to take part.

Prayer Labyrinths have been used for thousands of years by many religions and Christian denominations as a spiritual, meditative, and prayer tool.

If anyone has a question, please send an email to this address: prayerlabyrinth@gmail.com.
