Burrito Project

The Burrito Tuesday Project is going to happen on May 30.
We provide a meal, personal care products, and a warm smile for homeless people.
Anyone who would like to help out with this cause can either help prepare the Burritos in our kitchen, help distribute to those in need downtown, or donate personal care products.

The most needed items are shampoo, deodorant, shaving cream, wash cloths, combs, hand wipes, rain ponchos and toothbrush covers.

Whatever way you can help will be tremendously appreciated.
If you have any questions call Jay Delaney at 716 997-0738.

From the Pastor

From the Pastor

Perhaps it is no wonder that the women were first at the Cradle and last at the Cross. They had never known a man like this Man — there never has been such another. A prophet and teacher who never nagged at them, never flattered or coaxed or patronised; who never made arch jokes about them, never treated them either as ‘The women, God help us!’ or ‘The ladies, God bless them!’; who rebuked without querulousness and praised without condescension; who took their questions and arguments seriously; who never mapped out their sphere for them, never urged them to be feminine or jeered at them for being female; who had no axe to grind and no uneasy male dignity to defend; who took them as he found them and was completely unself-conscious. There is no act, no sermon, no parable in the whole Gospel that borrows its pungency from female perversity; nobody could possibly guess from the words and deeds of Jesus that there was anything ‘funny’ about woman’s nature.
—Dorothy L. Sayers, “Are Women Human?” in On the Contrary: Essays by Men and Women, ed. Martha Rainbolt and Janet Fleetwood (State University of New York Press, 1984), 13.

Need I say more? Something to ponder today.
Peace and blessings this day.

Pentecost Geraniums

Pentecost Geraniums

The church will be celebrating Pentecost on Sunday, May 28 this year. This is the day we celebrate the Holy Spirit coming into our lives and the world. The color of the day is red and we like to take that opportunity to celebrate that by filling the wooden cross near the church parking lot with red geraniums.

We do this by offering you the chance to purchase those geraniums in honor or memory of a loved one. The order forms are on the foyer counter or online. The price remains at $2.00 each. The names will be included in the Pentecost bulletin and online.
The last day to order will be Sunday, May 21.

The Altar Guild thanks you again for enabling us to have his opportunity to enhance the beauty of the church grounds with your support.
