St. John's News!

St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church
The Palm and Passion- 3/24/2024

Welcome

We are happy to announce that Miss Megan Marrano will be
joining our church staff as a part-time Youth Ministry Director.
St. John’s has always had a male and female directors position.
Until now Devon was just heading up the youth director position.
Megan will now join Devon Asmus in this role. Megan has been in
our congregation for a long time. You might know Megan through
her leadership with Vacation Bible School, the Christmas Pageant
or through her teachers position in Sunday Church School.

We look forward to Devon and Megan growing our children's
ministry while working closely with Pastor Valerie.

Devotion

Devotion

Jesus knew, riding into the Holy City amidst pomp and circumstance, what He would have to face in the coming days. How many of us wouldn’t continue on if we knew the worst possible ending was inevitable. He continued on to accomplish Your will, in peace, not panic. Though He passionately cried tears of blood, asking that there be any other way, He obediently and peacefully walked to the cross because it was the only way. We can walk through trouble, trial, and pain, because our Savior sustains us. He has already walked the most difficult path and died to defeat the death we deserve. All of the pain we experience on this earth is temporary, for those who embrace Him as Savior will be eternally with Him in heaven. No pain, no suffering, no sickness, no death. Imagine the peaceful parade, palms waving as He returns once again, to free us completely.

Koffee Klatsch Volunteer Teams Needed

Our congregation celebrates our German roots continuing the German tradition of Koffee Klatsch every Sunday morning. A Koffee Klatsch is a social gathering for informal conversation at which coffee is served! We love it! We are looking for 2 teams to set up and clean up our Koffee Klatsch on the 2nd and 3rd Sundays of the month. What does it entail? Setting up the coffee, hot water, cups, coffee condiments and supplying any breakfast snacks. Juice or water is set out as well. This is done at 9 to ensure the coffee is ready by 9:45. The area is then cleaned up around 10:25. Tear down includes cleaning and putting everything away, wiping the tables and sweeping the parish hall floor. Currently our Choir members cover the 1st Sunday of the month and our Altar Guild covers the 4th Sunday of the month. If you’d like to volunteer, we have a calendar available in the Parish Hall. We’ll be sure to show you where all the supplies are located and that you are trained on how to use the coffee pots, etc. Thank you for volunteering!

A sign up sheet is in the Parish Hall. Any questions, please ask Kathy Moody
