2 Corinthians 5:8

Yes, we do have confidence, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

Being in the later years of my life, I do not dwell on what the future may have for me. I still have a good sense of humor and enjoy each day. I especially enjoy the warm seasons with blue skies, green foliage and trees. I do take a lot of medication and go to many medical appointments. That comes with getting older.

Some of our neighbors who we have gotten to know over the years are now living in nursing homes or assisted living facilities. They miss their former homes where they raised their children. We like to visit them when we get a chance. We enjoy activities with friends and other neighbors still living in our neighborhood and help them out when we can. We have recently attended many wakes and funerals for family and friends.

I do have hobbies I enjoy. My wife and I belong to a car club and participate in its events whenever possible. I have been a member of St. John’s Lutheran church since my baptism many years ago. I am a “home body.” That doesn’t mean I just sit around and worry about the future and the time I have left on earth. With courage, I live one day at a time.

Prayer

Dear Lord,
Once again our world is in turmoil
as it has been for centuries.
Mankind is fighting deadly viruses
that have already killed millions of people.
Global warming is a threat to our planet
because we haven’t taken care of her.
The threat of war overseas is facing us again.
Greed has taken over our world.

Lord, please give all of mankind
the courage to once again follow you,
protect our planet
and love each other.

Amen.
