Joshua 1:9

I hereby command you: Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

When we are young, we know very little about fear or God. We jump from high places, play in the street. ride bikes and skateboards too fast. As we grow older, we become a little more cautious. We are more aware of the consequences.

I didn’t become the least bit cautious until I hit 30 and got married. Until that time the Lord had his hands full with me. At that point everyday worries showed up. Keeping family healthy and safe. Helping children grow up to be strong, honest and accepting of others.

I have had my share of scares this past year. Getting Covid and developing heart problems because of it. I admit to having problems with God’s plan taking my wife at such an early age and leaving me with a big hole in my heart. But children and grandchildren are filling that hole.

Prayer

Lord help us to have a healthy fear
in order to keep us grounded
in our everyday lives.
Help us to be courageous enough
to accept other people’s beliefs and differences
without fear of ridicule.

Amen
