Psalm 27:14

Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!

Courage – what is courage? According to the dictionary, courage is strength in the face of pain or grief. Many of us have reached the age where we or a family member are facing surgery, illness or even death.

During the last year, my family has been hit hard with my husband’s youngest sibling face 4th stage cancer, his brother-in-law died unexpectedly with a brain aneurysm, his best friend almost died from sepsis, another family member has severe depression, I had to have foot surgery and we are all still dealing with Covid! I know we are NOT alone!

I reflected on Job in the Bible and what he went through and yet he had the courage and faith that even with losing everything, his faith didn’t waiver! We see constant examples in the Bible of people who were hindered by blindness, deafness, inability to walk, etc. but their faith in God was strong enough that they knew God could help. Faith over fear!

Faith is not easy, especially when things are tough. But faith is what we need to remember that God is ALWAYS with us. They say God will never give you more than you can handle and I know many have questioned that statement. But then you realize God WAS there making you stronger each day as you worked through the problem. Faith is the building block necessary for us to live our lives in the manner God wants us to. Our lives need to be a reflection of Jesus and this will show others what a difference God can make in their lives! As this passage in Psalms says, be strong, take heart and wait for the Lord!

Prayer

Great Healer,
we ask for your Holy Spirit
to make us strong,
help us have more faith than fear
and know that You will always be with us.
Help us build up our lives
to show others
that faith in God
can make a difference in all our lives.

Amen.
