Hebrews 11: 1,6
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen... And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

There are many stories in the Bible about Faith. God told Noah to build an Ark and take 2 of every animal on the Ark with his family. Since Noah had faith, Noah and his family survived the flood. Abraham and Sara were older and did not have any children. God told them Sara would have a child. Abraham could not believe this but with his faith in God, he was given a son. Hannah wanted a child desperately and prayed to God for one. She promised that if she had a child, she would give him to God. As promised, she gave Samuel to God. Jonah was told to go to Nineveh to turn the people around. He was scared to do this and turned the other way. He was then swallowed by a fish and had three days to think about God’s work. After he was spit out on to the shore, he went to Nineveh to tell his story. Jonah did not have faith at first but later he trusted in God and followed his path. These stories are the ones that come to my mind.

Pleasing God can be hard. We might do things that we feel are right but might not be what God is looking for. He does not want us to just go thru the motions of what we feel He wants. The faith we have will lead us to do what is right in God’s eyes. He will reward us in time for showing our faith. Just like Noah, Abraham, Hannah and Jonah believed that God existed, no matter what situation we are in, having faith that God exists will get us a long way.

Prayer

Dear God, having faith that you exist can
sometimes be challenging. As we pray and study
the Bible, our faith will grow and we will see that you
truly exist and reward us. Amen.
